Having recently come across a short documentary about street photography, taking street portraits without ones consent and the ‘prohibitive’ nature of some city spaces. I thought It would be interesting to find a location where people had no choice but to a) realize I was taking a photo of them b) be photographed or turn around c) deal with the fact that as a public sidewalk (for now) I can photograph in this manner, take their likeness and do what I wish with it- wish some exceptions. I found a location near a grocery store, both sides lined with metal carts creating a direct line between the street transient and myself. I ambushed them, received questionable looks, however was never verbally questioned as to what I was doing.
